Effective counselling in the moments you need it most

Welcome to Live Therapy
I started Live Therapy with a vision to provide effective and practical counselling services to clients anywhere in Australia. I see clients in-person in Elsternwick in Melbourne. I also offer telehealth appointments to people anywhere in Australia.
I am a mature and highly-qualified counsellor with significant professional and life experience. I am respectful, compassionate and comforting to my clients. I am also practical in that I encourage my clients to make positive changes in their lives. I use a wide range of evidence-based strategies chosen to suit my clients. My fees are affordable. I am accessible and flexible with appointment times, including after-hours or weekends.
After you first contact me you can see me within a couple of days. I can offer regular counselling or single session therapy.
I am also happy to have a chat with you before you decide to go ahead. You can fill in the form below and I will give you a call.
Please take some time to read about me and the services I offer.
I look forward to working with you.

Registered Counsellor

In couples counselling, the main client is the relationship itself. Relationships face all kinds of challenges and the reasons are as varied as the relationships themselves. Couples counselling gives clients the time and space to look at closely at their relationship. In the safety of the counselling room, clients can open up and share their feelings with their partner. The counsellor offers protection and assists the couple to speak, listen and reflect. This can then lead to a more productive, unified approach by the couple.
I can support couples by providing sensitive and non-judgmental counselling. Each member of the couple is heard and respected as we work through the issues together. I use the Gottman Method as well as aspects of Emotionally Focused Therapy. The Gottman Method is structured therapy which includes a framework for assessing the strengths and weaknesses of a relationship. The next step is using Gottman based interventions to improve the areas that need attention.
I enjoy working with couples and I get enormous satisfaction from teaching them new ways of thinking and communicating.
I can see couples urgently often with a few days notice. You are welcome to contact me with any questions you might have about how I can help you and your partner.
Stress is endemic in our modern world and burnout is also becoming a major issue for many people. Self-care is often sacrificed by busy workers, parents, carers and people going through health challenges. People often deal with stress in relationships, believing that it can't get better.
You shouldn't go through all these things alone. Sometimes you just need to speak to someone. Talking to a counsellor can give you comfort but it can also give you new perspectives. You can work with a counsellor to learn better ways of thinking and dealing with other people. Counselling is the best form or self-care and it can prevent further damage to our relationships and health.
I work with all kinds of people experiencing challenges at work or in their home lives. Therapy takes the form of empathetic listening as well as trying different strategies to bring about positive change. We focus on improving mental health as well as physical health and wellbeing.
I can provide urgent appointments to people living with chronic illness.
I am different to many other mental health professionals because I also live with a chronic illness. In my experience, only other chronically-ill people can fully understand our experiences and feelings. This lived-experience makes me confident in my ability to provide deeply empathetic support to clients living with an illness.
I provide a safe space where you can talk about your all your experiences, feelings and challenges and be fully understood. Feelings such as grief, pain, exhaustion, anger, fear, frustration, loneliness, confusion and sadness are common. Sometimes when we are ill we forget who we are and what we are capable of. We must remember that our lives are worth living and they are still full of meaning.
I chose the name Live Therapy for my practice with chronic illness in mind. Illness often makes us feel like life has stopped. I hope that our work together can make you feel like you are living a full life again.
Chronic illness can also have a deep impact on carers and other loved ones. They can also feel grief, frustration, anger, guilt and burnout. Relationships can suffer. Financial challenges arise and plans need to change. The impact of illness is immense.
It's not something that anyone should deal with alone. I provide a safe space for carers and loved ones to be heard. No judgment and empathy are assured. We can work together to better understand your situation and design strategies to help you cope better.
